For the Netflix Original series Senna, Ben O’Meara, creative director at Deva Studios, and I created and refined a range of concepts and animations for the opening titles.
Exploring themes of echoing and splitting time - metaphors for Senna’s otherworldly talent behind the wheel - meant animating dozens of dreamlike CG shots featuring the legendary McLaren MP4/4 and developing techniques to blend those renders seamlessly with live-action.
The sequence was THEN edited by Micky Tsang, with Deva creating the final composite that featured a kaleidoscope of superimposed footage. The final piece has a fever dream quality that speaks to the concept of movement & change, and the weaving together of fluidity & speed.
